How Banks Steal Your Money

Which Banks Have It Out For You With Those ATM Credit/Debit/Check Cards!!!

We are reviewing banks in the 808 state to let you know which bank that you might not want to let handle your money; the banks in your area doing the same things. The factors we are using are only concerned with the on-line banking, bill payment, the alleged FREE checking account and the credit/debit bank card that they offer. We will attempt to expose how they plan to TAKE your money from you whether you like it or not! So far PayPal has the best credit/debit card available for they post each transaction when it happens not days later. They are not playing games with your money by attempting to trick you into giving them your money, and you ABSOLUTELY cannot use more money than you have available so that eliminates the overdraft charges that the bank rip you off for., plus Paypal gives you 1.5% back on your purchases. This alone will save you lots of money by not having to pay those bank fees. The banks can do the same things that PayPal does, but then again they wouldn’t be stealing your money and that is what the banks call business and being there to help you!!!… If you cannot find a bank that offers a true "Debit Card"; my suggestion would be to only use your bank account to transfer money to your PayPal account so you can use their debit card since it is a true debit card and you cannot spend more than you have in the account and you will get no PayPal fees added to your account to steal your money. Here is a list of banks that we have reviewed:

First Hawaiian Bank     Central Pacific Bank     Territorial Savings Bank     Bank Of Hawaii      American Savings Bank

First Hawaiian Bank

One type of checking account that this bank offers is free and the bank card for this account is also free, the on-line banking is also free but not bill payment and checks are not free. No minimum balance is required for this type of account, however for this free account there is also a plan to get your money. For having this account type of account there are shenanigans that seem to appear when you use it. Everything goes fine until you use your card as a credit card or non debit card. If you use the card without using your PIN for the transaction the bank will use your card as a credit card transaction but they will actually treat it like a check. The transaction will check to see if you have enough to cover the amount in question and if you do the transaction will go through, this is where the problems start to arise. It seems that you can use this card for the next few days and spend more than you actually have in the bank, even though they check before each transaction. It seems that you can have $100.00 in the bank and spend more than $500.00 as long as each transaction is not over $100.00. This is by design so that the bank can hit you for $27.50 for each transaction that makes you overdrawn. Even if you are overdrawn only 5 cents they will hit you for $27.50 for it. Instead of the bank protecting you by denying the charges at the time of purchase, they allow you to go over your account holding to get fees from you. This is the only bank that I know of that will charge you a “Continuous Overdraft Charge” of $10 for every three days the account is overdrawn (and they even include in this count the days the bank was closed). By the way, it is about five days before the bank notifies you that you went overdrawn…They have made all kinds of excuses for taking your money but the real reason is that they never meant to protect you; it is a trap from the start.

Central Pacific Bank

One checking account that this bank offers is free and the bank card for this account is also free, the on-line banking is free but not bill payment and the first 50 checks are free. No minimum balance is required for this type of account, but if you do keep a minimum balance of $200.00 or use your bank card 15 times a month or have direct deposit you can earn 4.00% interest APR otherwise you will only get .5% interest APR (½ percent). With this account you can also earn points that you can redeem for airline tickets and more just by using the bank card as a credit card transaction. So far the online banking is much like the others; the charges are late to be added to your statement so that you cannot readily track your purchases and they can trick you into overdraft charges. This banks on-line banking does has a major flaw, if you do not sign on to online banking on the first day that you opened the account all transactions before the date you do sign on will be lost to your on-line banking activity. This means that if you download your statement activity to balance your account or to track purchases these missing transactions will need to be hand entered from your mailed printed statement. The latest trick in the banking arsenal that was presented by Central Pacific Bank, it amounted to the bank depositing $500.00 into your checking account then mail out letters to the owners of the accounts stating that this money is your overdraft protection. Now this may be fine but if you were out of town or never got this letter in their eyes since you never responded you agreed to this deposit. Now if you use the funds in your account (not knowing what they have done) you get charged $30.00 every time you use the money. Now if you do not know this money has been placed into your account you get hit with all kinds of charges that you would normally not get because you only spend what is in your account. Now my gripe is dead people did not respond to the letter, so I guess they agreed to this also? Since procession is 99% of the law; then if they put money in your account it is yours correct? They could not get your money because you only spent what you have in your account, so they play a trick on you to get you to spend more than you have so they can charge you for it.   Very Dishonest!!!

Territorial Savings Bank

One type of checking account that this bank offers is free but the bank card for this account cost $12.00, the on-line banking is also free but not bill payment and checks are not free. No minimum balance is required for this type of account. Things go fine with this account until you deposit a check and the deposit slip, ATM and on-line banking state that the whole deposited amount is available. You proceed to use your account and the next thing you know you are overdrawn for unavailable balances. Nowhere does it state that the funds are not available then the bank charges you $21.00 for paying the transaction. This is a deceptive practice for they already told you it was available then surprise, it is not. I have called them about this and I was told that they had to call me back, but four days later and I have not received a return phone call. The strange part of this is they state I am overdrawn by $110.00 and there are 5 overdraft charges, now with my math 5 x $21.00 = $105.00 which leaves only $5.00. So how could there be five overdrafts when the total amount overdrawn is only $5.00 with all transactions recorded as paid with no deposits made? I don’t know if you would want this bank counting your money…

Bank Of Hawaii

This bank would not allow us to open an account  in our process to review. So I guess there is some "SHADY" working there that they do not want exposed. But on the surface they seem like all the other banks in services and customer treatment.

American Savings Bank

This bank seems to know how to treat it's customers. I have found no "SHADY" services to date. They offer free checking and that is what you get, they offer a "Debit Card" and that is what you get. If you attempt to use your debit card and you don't have enough funds; the transaction does not go thru and they DO NOT charge you a fee!!! I am very impressed with this bank and the way they treat their customers. They realize that it is YOUR money and they have to earn it not steal it!.
